Trying to define yourself is like trying to bite your own teeth. -Alan Watts

Dear Fortune Cookie,

On a rainy July evening, I was sitting on my couch. Laptop in lap, notebook in one hand, coffee in the other, I was working through a million different notes and Excel spreadsheets and Word documents and journal entries of possibilities for WHAT TO DO WITH MY LIFE, á la most recent college graduates. Then the power went out.

Disgruntled and hungry, I ordered Chinese takeout. You came in the bag– a complimentary treat, as always. I cracked you open to find your triumphant decree scribbled in blue on a tiny slip of white paper, dancing across my eyeballs in candlelight:

“Exhaust yourself in the glorious pursuit of life.”

Thank you for reminding me.

Dear Humans,

I’ve decided to actively make each day my masterpiece. I hope to inspire you to do the same. I plan to write, read, photograph, collect, sculpt, draw, paint, sketch, doodle, cook, craft, sing, dance, create. And so, I’ve created this space to share it all with you in hopes that you’ll find nuggets of beauty, inspiration, and belonging in the seconds/minutes/hours (!) that you spend perusing my ranting and rambling. Take what you will, leave what you won’t, and feel free to leave questions/comments/cookies.

Especially fortune cookies.

Love, Shreya
